Straight, uncontrived, photography is wedded to its subject matter as no other art form. Even so, a photographers sensibility is not wholly excluded from his work. Choice of subject, positioning of the camera, the treatment of the ambient light and of the tones and colors and textures playing on a subject -- not to mention a host of technical considerations - are factors each photographer handles differently. But every so often a photographer surpasses himself and manages to trump the world of appearances and a particular image conveys something of the worlds mystery; and the photographer, in setting out to meet the not myself, ends up encountering something of himself in the same image.
