BIO

BORN: July 23

RADIO EXPERIENCE: Radio DJ experience: 10 years. Years of DJ experience: 16 years

I started dee-jaying in middle school doing school dances and house parties. After I graduated from Hillsdale high school, I was asked to do a mixshow on KSOL. I worked there for about a year and a half. I continued to work there for another 6-7 months after they changed their call letters. I eventually left and was offered a job at KMEL. Now I can be heard 6 nights a week on 106.1 KMEL.

ON-AIR HOURS:

  • Monday & Thursday: from 5-5:40pm with Chuy Gomez.
  • Monday & Tuesday, Wednesday & friday: Quickmixes with Franzen from 7:20-7:35 pm & 8:35 pm.
  • Saturday: Club 106 with Franzen & Trace from 6-7 pm & from 8-9 pm.

MUSIC PRODUCTION/REMIXES: When I first started mixing on the radio in 1990, I also began my career in music production/remixing. I co-founded a DJ Remix service called WICKED MIX (check us out at www.wickedmix.com). I have done several remixes for various record labels with artists such as, Dru Down "Mac of the Year", Rappin 4-Tay "Players Club", Montel Jordan feat. Master P "Let's Ride", and The Deliquents "That Man" to name a few.

In addition, I have also co-founded a music production company called DaMo Muzik Works, with our most recent projects including: co-writing and co-producing 1 song for EnVogue called "Work It Out" (album due out in mid 2000), co-writing and producing 4 songs for Spice 1 (one of which has been released on the "Corrupter" soundtrack). We also developed and produced a group named VS (you might remember the song "Tastes Like Honey" feat. Too Short, which got major radio & club play in the bay-area). We are also working with a new artist named Don Dada. The first song due out on him is called "I'm The One". Furthermore, we have tracks for sale, and we are constantly developing and searching for new artists. Contact Dave Mezee at KMEL for further information.

FAVORITE DJ/MUSIC EQUIPMENT: Technics 1200, Vestax 05 Pro, Akai MPC3000, EMU SP1200, Rhodes keyboard, Mini-Moog, Roland 808 drum machine, and Whirlitzer electric piano.

FAVORITE MUSIC/ARTIST: I like a wide variety of music. I like anything, as long as it's funky/soulful. If it doesn't move me, I don't like it. I tend to like music that is different.Something that really stands out. I love Hip-Hop and R&B, Alternative and Jazz. The only kind of music that I feel comfortable saying that I do not like is country. Some of my favorite artists include: Jay Z, 2Pac, Curtis Mayfield, Marvin Gaye, James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Beck, Nine Inch Nails, & D'Angelo.

HOBBIES: Eating good food, Photography and traveling.

PEOPLE WHO INSPIRE ME: My mom. She always told me I could do whatever I wanted to do, if I wanted it bad enough. I believe in the power of the mind. Anything you try hard enough at, you will succeed.

GOALS: To be a multi-platinum selling producer/songwriter (hopefully you will all buy EnVogue's album to help me reach my goal).

FAVORITE CARS: Porsche 911, Mercedes SLK430, and a black Hummer.
