Rose establishes another important shift in the series.
Previous literal imagery has evolved with my ongoing discoveries of unique vinatage photos and a desire to
focus more on the human personalities and stories which ( while resonating in my early works ) were burried
in the materials themselves. Here is Rose - an amazing find, discovered against a wall and in the dirt in the
small alley-way behind my local metal shop. A most unlikely place to find a vintage card-mounted Victorian
portrait - Rose had been run over by numerous vehicles, as evidenced by a group of small rocks that had
embedded themselves in the photo. Rose is the first in my series of "Portraits" - works created around
a single personality and hinting at aspects of their life. In discovering this unique photo, I felt as though
I had rescued Rose and brought her back into the world.
