The surface and what lies beneath is one of my favorite topics. We look at someone and we think we see them, yet so much is hidden from view and only on occasion do we get a glimpse of something else. Here - quarter inch thick squares are raised off of the surface, with underlying colors and patterns discernable from the sides.
